Accessing Online Report Cards through MyCBE
We understand how important it is for parents and guardians to stay informed about their child’s progress in school. Research consistently shows that students achieve greater success when parents and guardians are actively involved in their learning. Report cards are one of the key tools we use to communicate student progress.
Families will be able to view online student report cards on Jan. 27, 2025. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed. Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App. For technical support on accessing MyCBE, visit Technical Support for Students & Parents for more information.
Please see the CBE resource, How is My Child Doing in School?, for helpful information related to assessment and reporting.
K-3 Screening Assessments
All K-3 students in Alberta will be participating in mandatory universal screening assessments in literacy and numeracy. These mandatory screening assessments are completed at the start of the school year in Grade 1, 2 and 3 and in January for Kindergarten to Grade 3. These universal screeners do not replace day-to-day teacher observations and classroom assessment and do not have any impact on formal reporting processes such as report cards. Rather, the results of universal screeners help inform planning for next steps such as targeted interventions or instructional planning and are not used to determine report card grades. More information about screening assessments can be found here.
Individualized Program Plans (IPPs)
If a student is accessing support through an Individualized Program Plan (IPP), these documents have been updated for January 2025. Updated documents have been sent home. Please review the IPP and indicate your agreement with the learning targets and goals by signing the second review section of the final page. Families can also sign-off to consent for electronic delivery of the IPP through email, if they have not already. If you have questions about your child’s IPP, please reach out to their teacher as a starting point.
Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey now open!
The Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) survey gathers feedback on the quality of education provided by school authorities and their schools. Schools and school authorities use this information to understand how they are doing and plan for the future. The AEA survey is sent to parents or guardians of students in Grades 4, 7, and 10. Grade 4 teachers and students complete the survey online at school. Parents or guardians receive a survey invitation package by mail and have the option to complete the survey on paper or online using the provided Random Access Code (RAC). Parents or guardians with more than one student in an eligible grade will receive a separate survey invitation package for each child. Only parents or guardians of students in participating grades will receive a survey invitation package to complete the survey. Responding to the survey is voluntary. Thank you for providing your voice!
CBE Student Survey
Students in grades 4, 5, & 6 will have the occasion to have their say through the annual CBE Student Survey. This student-only survey provides an opportunity for students to report on themselves, their own abilities and their accomplishments, and take pride in what they have achieved. The results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are:
able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.
