Welcome Back

Our Grade 6 students had an amazing adventure this week at Outdoor School, held at YMCA Camp Chief Hector in the heart of Kananaskis. Surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Bow Valley and the majestic Rocky Mountains, students immersed themselves in nature through a range of engaging activities. From tackling the challenge course and participating in outdoor games to exploring the trails on a guided hike, students built valuable teamwork skills and strengthened their connection with the natural world.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Ms. Million, Ms. Perkins, Ms. McNeil, Ms. Yanchula, and Mr. Barkley for volunteering their time and energy to support this memorable learning experience. Their commitment and care make opportunities like this possible and greatly enrich our school community.

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to our parents for your trust and support. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide your children with experiences that inspire growth, curiosity, and lasting memories.

Thank You for Your Support During Temporary Construction Restrictions

We would like to sincerely thank our parent community for your patience and support over the past week as we managed temporary restrictions on our school grounds due to construction. We are pleased to share that the remaining work — including the cladding and transportation of the modular classrooms — will now take place outside of school hours. This means we can return to regular operations without further disruption to student routines or school programming. All students will once again have access to the field and plant park, and can use their regular entrances. Your flexibility and understanding have been greatly appreciated as we worked to prioritize the safety of our students and staff throughout this process. Thank you once again for your continued support of our school community.

All Sports Sport One Day 2025

All Sport One Day is an exciting, free sport discovery event created for children and youth ages 6 to 17 sponsored by the City of Calgary. It provides a great opportunity for kids to try a new sport or physical activity in a fun, supportive setting. Whether your child wants to explore a new skill or simply stay active, this event offers a perfect, no-cost introduction to the world of sports. Participants can sample a variety of activities, uncover new interests, and perhaps spark a lifelong passion — all while meeting new friends and keeping active.

All Sport One Day 2025 will take place on June 21 and August 16.  2025 All Sport One Day Registration Opens June 10 at 6 P.M. More information about the program can be found on the Sport Calgary website.

Library Year-End

If your child has an overdue library book, our library assistant Mrs. Sjogren may be in touch asking you to help your child locate the book at home. This year we offered families a voluntary option of replacing lost or damaged books to help keep our collection up-to-date. Mrs. Sjogren will provide book replacement info if you wish to get a new copy of any book you can’t find. Costs for replacing lost or damaged books are not applied to your MyCBE account fees.

Book Bonanza is Back!

Starting Friday June 13th, a display of withdrawn library books and readers will be set up near the plaza. If you’re in the school, take a peek - parents and students are welcome to take and keep any books of interest…maybe something new for summer reading.  The books will be on display until the last week of June.

Kindergarten Celebration

We are excited to invite you to our Kindergarten Celebration on June 13, 2025! This special event will recognize the growth, achievement, and milestones our Kindergarten students have reached throughout the school year. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the dedication and progress of our young learners. We look forward to sharing this memorable occasion with you and honoring the fantastic journey our Kindergarten students have taken this year.

Online Report Card Access
Online report cards will be available for viewing from June 25, 2025, through July 25, 2025 (8:00 a.m.). During this period, legal guardians and independent students can access K–12 report cards online. For additional support with Attendance, Assessment, and Reporting—including helpful videos and guides—please visit Technical Support for Students & Parents.

Outstanding School Fees
Thank you for your attention to our earlier communication regarding school fees. Typically, the only fees charged directly by the school are those related to field trips. These trips operate on a cost-recovery basis, covering expenses such as transportation and service provider fees. Unpaid fees can significantly impact the programming we are able to offer, including limiting our ability to provide student technology, art supplies, library books, and other valuable resources. For your convenience, payments can be made online using credit or debit through your MyCBE account. If you have any questions or concerns regarding fees, please contact the main office.

Volunteers Needed – Olympic Heights Parent Association Casino

The Olympic Heights Parent Association is thrilled to announce its upcoming Fundraising Casino, happening November 1–2, 2025 at Cowboys Casino in Calgary. This exciting event is not only a great way to support our school, but also a fun opportunity to meet and connect with fellow OHS parents. Together, we have the potential to raise up to $70,000 to enhance our children’s educational experience.

Proceeds from the event will help fund essential learning tools and resources, including laptops, iPads, SMART Boards, robotics equipment, books, gym gear, music and art supplies. These contributions directly benefit our students by enriching classrooms and creating dynamic, engaging learning environments.

We truly rely on the support of our community to make this event a success.
