Volunteer Tea!

Today, we had the pleasure of celebrating our amazing volunteers at our annual Volunteer Tea. This special event was our way of saying thank you for the time, care, and commitment OHS volunteers have  shown throughout the year. Whether you supported off-site student activities, helped organize fundraisers like the book fair or casino night, collaborated with our School Council and Parents Association, lent a hand in the library, ensured student safety at the Kiss & Drop zone, or contributed in countless other ways! A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Tran for coordinating the beautiful student solo performances that added a special touch to the celebration. Thank you again to our volunteers, in creating enriched opportunities for our school community!

Rising Together in Adversity: Opportunity Through Challenges & Change

We were honored to host a special community assembly on May 22, featuring guest speaker Tyler Smith—mental health advocate, entrepreneur, and winner of The Amazing Race Canada Season 9. Sponsored by our OHS School Council, The Power of Us brought our community together for a meaningful and inspiring experience. A survivor of the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash, Tyler shared his powerful journey of healing and resilience, paying tribute to the 16 lives lost in the tragedy. His presentation, Rising Together in Adversity: Opportunity Through Challenges & Change, offered heartfelt insights and practical strategies for building resilience, embracing change, and coming together to overcome life’s toughest challenges—at home, at school, and in the wider community. Thank you to our OHS School council for providing this opportunity to our school community!

Stampede Goodbye

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Calgary Stampede Education Team to our school for a very special visit. This celebration was held in honour of Ms. Cooper, who is retiring after a remarkable career with the Calgary Board of Education. For the past six years, Ms. Cooper has been deeply involved with the Calgary Stampede Education Team, where she played a leading role in piloting educational opportunities at the SAM Centre. Her dedication and creativity have left a lasting impact on students and educators alike. In recognition of her outstanding contributions—and to celebrate her final year with the CBE—the Calgary Stampede Education Team joined us today to give Ms. Cooper a heartfelt ‘Stampede Goodbye’ filled with gratitude and western spirit. Thank you, Ms. Cooper, for all you've done. You leave behind a legacy of innovation, kindness, and commitment to student learning.

Volunteers Needed – Olympic Heights Parent Association Casino

The Olympic Heights Parent Association is thrilled to announce its upcoming Fundraising Casino, happening November 1–2, 2025 at Cowboys Casino in Calgary. This exciting event is not only a great way to support our school, but also a fun opportunity to meet and connect with fellow OHS parents. Together, we have the potential to raise up to $70,000 to enhance our children’s educational experience.

Proceeds from the event will help fund essential learning tools and resources, including laptops, iPads, SMART Boards, robotics equipment, books, gym gear, music and art supplies. These contributions directly benefit our students by enriching classrooms and creating dynamic, engaging learning environments.

We truly rely on the support of our community to make this event a success.
