Registration for the Upcoming School Year

As we plan for the upcoming school year, we have noticed that our registration numbers for next year are currently lower than we had projected. If you are aware of any students who will be attending next year or of prospective families who may be interested in registering, we kindly ask that you encourage them to connect with the school office as soon as possible. Early confirmation of enrolment helps us with planning and staffing for the year ahead. Thank you for your continued support and for helping us spread the word within our school community.

Support Staff Appreciation Week

Over the past week, we were delighted to celebrate Support Staff Appreciation Week—a meaningful opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals who play such an essential role in supporting our students and strengthening our school community. We extend our sincere appreciation to our lunchroom supervisors, educational assistants, library assistant, facility operators, and our administrative and school secretaries. Your commitment, care, and hard work have a lasting impact and do not go unnoticed. Each day, you help make Olympic Heights a welcoming, safe, and engaging place for learning. Thank you for all that you do to support our students and every aspect of school life. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and supportive team at the heart of our school.

National Day of Mourning

On April 28, we observe the National Day of Mourning—a time to honour and remember workers who have lost their lives, suffered injury, or experienced illness as a result of workplace incidents. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of health and safety and of our shared responsibility to care for one another. At the Calgary Board of Education, we remain deeply committed to fostering safe and healthy environments for all. Whether through the proper use of personal protective equipment, reporting potential hazards, or supporting a colleague, every action contributes to ensuring that everyone returns home safely each day.

Cinco de Mayo Spring Dance – Volunteers Needed

Our School Council is seeking parent volunteers for the upcoming Cinco de Mayo Spring Dance on Thursday, May 7, taking place in the OHS Gym and Plaza from 6:15–8:15 p.m. This free, family‑friendly event is open to OHS students and their siblings, with parent attendance and supervision required. Families are encouraged to dress in their brightest spring colours and enjoy a live DJ, photobooth, and fun plaza activities. Cash will also be accepted for a Lollipop‑Pull fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting the OHS Playground Revitalization Project. Parent volunteers are needed—please sign up using the link below:

Outstanding Fees Reminder

This is a friendly reminder that some families currently have outstanding fees on their child’s school account. Most school-based fees are related to field trips, which operate on a cost-recovery basis to cover expenses such as transportation and service provider fees. Unpaid fees can significantly impact the programs and resources available at our school, including student technology, art supplies, library materials, and other learning supports. For your convenience, payments can be made online using credit or debit through your MyCBE account. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the main office.
