CBE Decodable Digital Library – Supporting Beginning Readers

The CBE Decodable Digital Library is a collection of online books created for CBE students and families to support early reading at home and school. Decodable books are specially designed to help beginning readers practice reading words using the letter sounds they have already been taught, rather than guessing from pictures or memorizing words. As students learn new sounds, the books gradually include more words, helping build confidence, accuracy, and fluency. Decodable books are one important part of a balanced literacy program, alongside being read to and enjoying many different kinds of books. This digital library gives families easy access to supportive reading materials that help children learn to trust the print and grow as readers.

WITS at Our School

Our school uses the WITS approach to help students handle peer conflict in a positive and safe way. WITS stands for Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it Out, and Seek Help, four simple strategies that empower children to respond to challenging social situations. The program gives students and adults a common language for discussing conflict and encourages children to make thoughtful, safe choices.

We encourage families to talk with their child about the WITS steps and ask how they might use them at school or at home. These conversations help reinforce problem‑solving skills and build children’s confidence in managing peer interactions.

Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day – February 11

Our Active School Club is hosting Walk/Bike/Roll to School Day on Wednesday, February 11! We encourage all families to leave the car at home and choose an active way to get to school—whether that’s walking, biking, scootering, or rolling in whatever way works for you.

It’s a great chance to promote healthy habits, reduce traffic around the school, and start the day with some fresh air. We hope to see many students participating!

Teacher’s Convention & Family Day Break

A reminder that there will be no school from Thursday, February 12 through Monday, February 16 due to Teacher’s Convention and the Family Day holiday. We hope all families enjoy a restful long weekend together. Students return to school on Tuesday, February 17.

Ramadan Begins Next Week

Ramadan is expected to begin on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, marking the start of an important month of reflection, prayer, and community for Muslims around the world.
