Jan. 30 – System PD Day

This is a friendly reminder that students do not have classes on Friday, January 30, due to a CBE system-wide Professional Learning Day for staff. We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, February 2.

Valentine’s Day

As we approach Valentine’s Day, we would like to share a few guidelines to help ensure the day is inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable for all students. To protect student privacy, class lists and student names are not shared. If families choose to participate, we encourage students to bring a card for each classmate. Cards may be signed by your child, with the “To:” line left blank or addressed only to classmates they know. Participation is always optional. Families may include small, non-food items such as stickers with Valentine cards. Please refrain from sending food or treats due to allergies, inclusivity, and potential classroom distractions. Valentine exchanges will take place on February 11, 2026, as February 12–13 are non-instructional days due to Teachers’ Convention. Exchanges will be kept simple, as instructional time will continue to be prioritized. Thank you for your support in helping us create a positive and caring experience for all students.

Moving Schools in 2026-27?

A reminder to families: If you are aware that your child will be moving to a new school for the upcoming school year, please inform the school office by email at your earliest convenience. This information helps us with planning and staffing.

2026–27 Instructional Calendar Now Available

The 2026-27 school calendar has now been finalized and posted. The first day of school for students will be August 31. Instructional calendars are developed in accordance with current legislation, provincial examination requirements, and feedback from stakeholders. Each calendar includes a minimum of 181 instructional days, as well as 10 system-wide days allocated for parent-teacher conferences, professional learning, and school-based organizational planning.

Kindergarten Registration

Do you know a family with a child ready to start kindergarten? Children must be five years old on or before December 31, 2026, to begin kindergarten in Fall 2026. Registration for the 2026–27 school year opens January 12, 2026. Olympic Heights School will host a Kindergarten Orientation in May 2026 to help families and children prepare for the year ahead. More details will be shared closer to the date on the Olympic Heights School Kindergarten website.   Kindergarten registration information is available on the CBE new student registration website.
