Havana Cuban Dance Residency & Performances
Our work with Marcos Ravelo and Havana Cuban Dance Studio, began this week and culminates with a school performance on Friday, March 14. Supported by our School Council & Parents Association, students are engaged in an authentic cultural exploration through the engaging world of Latin dance. From the rhythmic steps of Salsa and Merengue to the expressive movements of Flamenco, Cha Cha, and Reggaeton, students are learning each style with enthusiasm, guided by the expert and nurturing hands of Marcos and his assistant, Nichole. Stay tuned for more information about our March 14 performance.
Ramadan at Olympic Heights School
This month, many of our students and staff will be observing Ramadan, a sacred time of year for Muslims around the world. Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It is observed by members of the Muslim community to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad, according to Islamic belief. During Ramadan, observers fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from consuming food or drink. It is a time for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and enhanced devotion and worship. In support of our students who choose to observe this important time, our school is committed to providing an alternate space during lunch hours for those fasting, ensuring they have a quiet and comfortable place to spend their time. Additionally, in support of those celebrating Ramadan, we have collaborated with the School Council to pause the scheduling of any fun lunches or fun snack days during this period, as we have in previous years. Our school community respects and supports the diverse ways in which our students and their families observe and celebrate their cultures and beliefs. We wish everyone observing Ramadan a blessed and peaceful month.
March 20 and 21 Learning Conferences Change
As we approach the spring break, we will be holding parent teacher conferences on March 20 and 21. Originally planned as “student-led,” we will be holding virtual conferences with parents via Teams, instead of in-person, student led conferences. This direction is system wide, due to the CUPE Local 40 labour situation. Please watch for updates next week directing you on how to book your 15 minute appointment either on Thursday, March 20 (4:30 – 8:00PM) or Friday between 8:00 and 12:00. Kindergarten will be on Thursday only. More information to follow!

Are You Up to Date with School Fees?
Please check your MyCBE/PowerSchool account to ensure all school fees have been paid.
Fees are charged to cover the gap between the cost of programs and services and the funding provided by the province. No child is ever denied access to learning or activities because of an inability to pay. If you are unable to pay fees all at once, flexible payment options are available. Please contact the main office at 403-777-8370 to discuss or drop by the school during regular hours. Thank you for keeping your account up to date!
Lost and Found
Once again, our lost and found is overflowing with misplaced items! Please remind your child to check the tables near the fish tanks frequently. Items will be collected and donated at different times throughout the year so please remind children to check!
