Grade 6 Outdoor School
Our Grade 6 students enjoyed an incredible Outdoor School experience this week at YMCA Camp Chief Hector, nestled in the beautiful Kananaskis region. Surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Bow Valley and the Rocky Mountains, students engaged in a variety of outdoor learning opportunities that encouraged exploration, collaboration, and personal growth. Activities such as the challenge course, organized group games, and guided hikes allowed students to build teamwork skills while deepening their appreciation for the natural environment. We would like to sincerely thank Ms. Million, Ms. Perkins, Ms. McNeil, Ms. Yanchula, and Mr. Barkley for generously giving their time and energy to support this enriching experience. Their dedication played a key role in making this opportunity both meaningful and memorable for our students. We also extend our gratitude to our parents for your continued trust and support. We are thankful for the opportunity to provide experiences that foster curiosity, resilience, and lasting memories for your children.
Kindergarten Orientation - Thursday June 4th 2026
We are excited to invite families to the Kindergarten Orientation for the 2026–2027 school year at Olympic Heights School, which will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM. This important event is a valuable opportunity for parents of registered students to meet our dedicated Kindergarten teaching team, learn about the enriching program we offer, enjoy a presentation from our current teachers, explore our learning environments and resources, and ask any questions you may have about the upcoming school year. A member of our school administration team will also be present to share insights and answer questions about our educational approach and community. To ensure the session is as informative and comfortable as possible, we kindly ask that this orientation be attended by parents only.
OHS School Council & Parents Association AGM – June 11
All parents and guardians are invited to attend the Olympic Heights School Council & Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons. We also have virtual Zoom option available.
The meeting will include updates from school administration, School Council & Parents’ Association reports, a presentation from the Grade 5 teaching team, and the election of the 2026–2027 executive team.
We are currently accepting nominations and are looking for parents interested in supporting communications, fundraising, events, treasurer support, or volunteering occasionally throughout the year. No previous experience is required, and all levels of involvement are welcome.
The meeting agenda and May meeting minutes will be circulated closer to the meeting.
Library Book Bonanza
Starting Friday, June 5th, our “Book Bonanza” will be set up near the plaza glass wall. Parents, students and staff are invited to take and keep books on display that have been retired from our library. We’ll keep this display up for the last few weeks of school. There will be lots to chose from, including picture books, novels and some non-fiction.
Outstanding Fees Reminder
This is a friendly reminder that some families currently have outstanding fees on their child’s school account. Most school-based fees are related to field trips, which operate on a cost-recovery basis to cover expenses such as transportation and service provider fees. Unpaid fees can significantly impact the programs and resources available at our school, including student technology, art supplies, library materials, and other learning supports. For your convenience, payments can be made online using credit or debit through your MyCBE account. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the main office.
