Walking Together: A Commitment to Inclusion, Equity, and Learning
The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that all schools are safe and caring places for students and staff. As a public school system, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs. At Olympic Heights School, we have honored and recognized our school community throughout the school year with events such as Orange Shirt Day, Hindu Heritage Month, Black History month, etc.
June marks National Indigenous History Month, a significant time to honour and explore the diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. Throughout this month—and especially on National Indigenous Peoples Day—we are reminded of the importance of continuing our commitment to learning and growth, guided by the Indigenous Holistic Education Lifelong Learning Framework.
It is a time to come together in the spirit of culture, connection, and shared learning
In addition, June is also Pride Month, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE is committed to safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. At Olympic Heights School, we will recognize this by reinforcing our Three Pillars of Care- Taking Care of Yourself, Taking Care of Others, and Taking Care of our Place.
We acknowledge that each family and community have unique experiences with different recognitions and celebrations, and any commemorative activities in our schools may be perceived differently. Classroom-based activities and lessons that promote diversity and inclusion are not subject to exemptions as they are in alignment with the Education Act
Library Year-End
This was the last week for student library book check-outs. Books will be collected from all classes next week. If your child has an overdue library book, our library assistant Mrs. Sjogren may be in touch asking you to help your child locate the book at home. This year we offered families a voluntary option of replacing lost or damaged books to help keep our collection up-to-date. Mrs. Sjogren will provide book replacement info if you wish to get a new copy of any book you can’t find. Costs for replacing lost or damaged books are not applied to your MyCBE account fees.
Online Report Card
Online report cards will be enabled for viewing from June 25, 2025 - July 25, 2025 (8 a.m.). During this window, legal guardians / independent students are welcome to view K-12 report cards online. For additional supports (e.g., videos, guides etc.) with Attendance and Assessment and Reporting, refer to Technical Support for Students & Parents.
Outstanding Fees
We would like to say thank you to the response to our previous email. We have reduced our outstanding total to $12 272. Typically, the only fees that are school-based are ones that are associated with field trips. These trips are run on a cost recovery basis as we are required to pay for things such as transportation and service provider costs. Unpaid fees can result in a significant impact on the programming we offer at our school such as; limiting our ability to provide student technology, art supplies, library books and various student resources. For your convenience, payment options of credit and debit are available online through your MyCBE account. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the main office.

Volunteers Needed – Olympic Heights Parent Association Casino
The Olympic Heights Parent Association is thrilled to announce its upcoming Fundraising Casino, happening November 1–2, 2025 at Cowboys Casino in Calgary. This exciting event is not only a great way to support our school, but also a fun opportunity to meet and connect with fellow OHS parents. Together, we have the potential to raise up to $70,000 to enhance our children’s educational experience.
Proceeds from the event will help fund essential learning tools and resources, including laptops, iPads, SMART Boards, robotics equipment, books, gym gear, music and art supplies. These contributions directly benefit our students by enriching classrooms and creating dynamic, engaging learning environments.
We truly rely on the support of our community to make this event a success.
