Spring Dance Fun!

Thanks to everyone who attended our Cinco de Mayo spring dance yesterday! The Latin themed celebration was fun for all, with MANY families taking advantage of the photo booth, snacks, and opportunity to “shake ya tailfeathers!” Huge gratitude to our School Council for hosting the evening!

Rainbow Color Day

On Thursday, May 15, Olympic Heights School will be celebrating Colour Day and will include a whole-school photo! Each grade will represent a different colour, and together we’ll form a beautiful school rainbow to celebrate our vibrant community spirit. This idea came from students during one of our Student Voice meetings.

Here’s the colour assignment for each grade:

  • Kindergarten – Purple
  • Grade 1 – Blue
  • Grade 2 – Green
  • Grade 3 – Yellow
  • Grade 4 – Orange
  • Grade 5 – Pink
  • Grade 6 – Red

We encourage all students to participate by wearing a top in their grade’s assigned colour. If your child does not have clothing in their designated colour, please do not feel the need to purchase anything new. They are welcome to wear the colour of a grade adjacent to theirs (one grade above or below).

Lunch Hour Safety Reminder

We’ve recently become aware of some students engaging in play fighting or wrestling during lunch breaks. While we understand that students may be full of energy and looking to have fun with peers, physical play of this nature can easily lead to unintended injuries or escalate into conflict. We are reminding all students that physical contact, even in play, is not permitted during school hours. Please take a moment to speak with your child about safe and respectful behavior during unstructured times like lunch and recess. Our priority is ensuring all students feel safe and cared for throughout the day.

Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing these expectations at home.

Outstanding Fees

We actually have nothing against dead horses, so apologies if it appears that we are “beating one.” This is a reminder that some of you have outstanding fees associated with your child’s account that require payment. Please log into your MyCBE account to check if you are up to date.

For your convenience, payment options of credit and debit are available online through your  MyCBE account. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the main office.

AMA Patrol Update

In the coming weeks, our Grade 5 students will begin training to join the Grade 6 patrollers for the rest of the year. As they step into their new roles, some of our Grade 6 patrollers will be retiring—thank you for your leadership and commitment! Please show kindness and patience as our new recruits learn the ropes and take on this important responsibility.

Kindergarten Orientation

We are excited to invite you to the Kindergarten Orientation for the 2025-2026 school year at Olympic Heights School! This important event will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:15 PM.

This orientation is a special opportunity for parents of registered students to meet our dedicated Kindergarten teaching team and learn about the enriching Kindergarten program we offer. You will have the chance to:

  • Enjoy a presentation by our current Kindergarten teachers
  • Explore our learning environments and educational resources
  • Ask any questions you might have about the upcoming school year

Additionally, a member of our school administration team will be present to share insights and answer questions about our educational approach and community.

Please note: To ensure the event is most informative and comfortable for all attendees, we kindly request that this orientation be attended by parents only.
