Learning Conferences
It was wonderful to see so many of our OHS families at Learning Conferences this week! Thank you to everyone who participated—whether in-person or online. Conferences are an important part of our communication and reporting process, and they provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate student strengths and set goals ahead of the January report cards. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our School Council, Parents Association, and Freshii Westmont (Richard Road location) for providing a thoughtful dinner for our teachers. Your generosity and continued support are truly appreciated.
A Strong Reminder About Jaywalking and Student Safety
We must urgently remind all parents and caregivers that jaywalking during drop-off and pick-up poses a serious and unnecessary risk to our students. We continue to see adults crossing the street between parked cars or outside the crosswalk, often with children in tow. This is extremely unsafe. With winter approaching and roads becoming increasingly icy and slippery, drivers need additional time and space to stop. When adults model unsafe crossing behavior, children learn to take the same risks, placing themselves and others in real danger. For the safety of every child in our community, please use the designated crosswalks at all times. Even if it takes a few extra seconds, it prevents potentially tragic accidents and teaches our students the safe habits they deserve to see. Thank you for doing your part to keep all of our students safe.
Winter Concert – Save the Date!
Save the date for our annual OHS winter/Christmas concert! Our Grades 4-6 students are once again hosting this wonderful event. We will be having an afternoon dress rehearsal / performance on Thursday, December 11, and an evening performance on Thursday, December 11. We will also be collecting food for the Calgary Food Bank, beginning on Dec. 8, so please try to remember to bring along a donation.
Weather Reminder!
The colder weather has arrived. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for outdoor play: coat, hat, mittens, boots, and snow pants. We go outside every day (unless the temperature hits extremely cold guidelines), so being prepared keeps everyone warm, dry, and ready to learn. Thanks for helping keep our students cozy!
