Olympic Heights Update – Sept. 26, 2025
Open House
Thanks to everyone who took time to attend our open house on Sept. 25. Whether you were meeting staff, learning about your child’s classroom, or visiting the book fair, your presence and involvement was appreciated. Thanks as well to our teachers for staying late on Thursday night to host classroom presentations, and to the intrepid Ms. Crozier for helping parents with the volunteer process. Finally, thank you, merci, sīyísgáàs, xièxiè to our amazing School Council for providing dinner from local establishment, Treasure of Saigon, giving teachers energy for the evening’s meetings. Our next round of learning conferences will be occurring on November 27 and 28, 2025.
Terry Fox Run Success!
On Thursday afternoon, our school community came together for our annual Terry Fox Run, and what an amazing event it was! Students and staff showed tremendous spirit and determination as they ran, walked, and cheered each other on. Together, we raised thousands of dollars in support of cancer research; an incredible achievement that reflects both our generosity and our commitment to Terry’s legacy. In addition, we have raised over $7200 to support the Terry Fox Foundation.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Ms. Warford, the S.W.A.T. team, and our dedicated parent volunteers for their hard work and organization in making this event such a success. Olympic Heights truly reaches new heights when we come together!
Orange Shirt Day
As part of our ongoing work with truth and reconciliation, our Olympic Heights recognition of Orange Shirt Day was held today, Sept. 26. School participation was outstanding as the halls were filled with orange. There are many opportunities for families to participate in local events this weekend, and on September 30. Check this link for happenings around our city.
Book Fair Recap
Thank you so much to our OHS families for supporting Thursday's Scholastic Book Fair. Your interest and enthusiasm generated almost $8,000 in sales; some of the proceeds go towards purchasing new books for our library. Congratulations to our draw prize winners: Emma (Room 3), Adam (Room 12) and Zoey (Room 23). And much appreciation to our awesome volunteer team who helped make it happen. Our next book fair is scheduled for March 2026.
No School for Students
A quick reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, or Tuesday next week. School resumes on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Demographic Verification
Have you done it yet? All families must complete the Demographic Verification Form in their MyCBE Account by September 30. This is a requirement for all families even if there are no changes. Please find further information and support here.
If your child has a medical condition, please inform their teacher so the correct documentation can be prepared.
Volunteers STILL Needed – Olympic Heights Parent Association Casino
If you are at all able, PLEASE consider volunteering for our school casino. A few hours of your time can result in tens of thousands of dollars for our school. We truly rely on the support of our community to make this event a success. To volunteer or learn more, please visit: https://bit.ly/OHS_Casino.
