Winter Concert a Huge Success!

Yesterday, Olympic Heights School was filled with music, energy, and celebration as our Grades 4, 5, and 6 students took the stage for our annual Winter / Christmas Concert. It was truly a huge success! We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our students, who performed with confidence, enthusiasm, and pride in both the afternoon assembly and evening concert. A special thank you to Ms. Tran for her exceptional leadership, dedication, and countless hours of preparation. Her passion for music and her commitment to our students brought this event together beautifully. Thank you as well to our teachers and staff for supporting rehearsals, helping students prepare, and ensuring the day and evening ran smoothly. We are also deeply grateful to our parent volunteers, whose time and support with set-up, supervision, and organization were essential to the success of the concert. Finally, thank you to our families and community members for attending, for your warm encouragement, and for your generosity in supporting the Calgary Food Bank. Your continued support strengthens our school community!

Spirit Week

We’re excited to share our OHS Spirit Days lineup next week! We invite students to join in the fun by dressing up each day:

  • Monday, Dec. 15 – Twin Day
  • Tuesday, Dec. 16 – Jersey Day (or wear gear from any team or sport your child belongs to)
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17 – Winter Wonderland Day (dress in blue and white)
  • Thursday, Dec. 18 – Holiday Festive Wear (shirts, sweaters, hats, and more!)
  • Friday, Dec. 19 – Pajama Day

We can’t wait to see everyone showing their school spirit and celebrating together!

Lost and Found Collection

As we approach Winter Break, we would like to remind families to check our school’s Lost and Found. Throughout the fall, we have made several efforts to reunite students with misplaced items—including during November’s learning conferences, student tours, and yesterday’s Winter Concerts. Despite these efforts, many items remain unclaimed. To support those in need during the holiday season, any items left in the Lost and Found after the break will be donated. This reflects our school’s commitment to kindness, generosity, and community care. To ensure nothing is unintentionally donated, we kindly ask families to stop by and check the Lost and Found before Winter Break begins. It is available during regular school hours—please check in at the main office upon arrival. As a helpful reminder, we strongly encourage families to label all clothing and personal items with your child’s name using permanent marker or durable labels. This greatly increases the likelihood of lost items finding their way back home. Thank you for your support and cooperation!

Winter Break is Coming Soon!

As we approach the end of 2025, we would like to remind families of the upcoming schedule for students. The week of December 15–19 will be a full week of classes. Following this, the Calgary Board of Education Winter Break will run from December 20 to January 4, with classes resuming on Monday, January 5, 2026. To help ensure a smooth transition into the break and a positive return in January, we kindly ask that families remind students to bring home all personal belongings before the last day of school. This includes water bottles, lunch kits, accessories, and any extra clothing that may be stored at school. While the winter break is a time to rest and recharge, it also offers wonderful opportunities for continued learning in everyday ways. We encourage families to support foundational skills through activities such as reading together, spending time outdoors, and engaging in simple math conversations during daily routines—like grocery shopping or talking about time. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish you and your family a joyful, safe, and restful winter break.
