Dear Olympic Heights families,

Thank you for an amazing year!! From the very first day to the final bell, our students have shown growth, resilience, and kindness, and it’s been a privilege to walk alongside them on their journey. This year’s theme, Walking Together, reminded us that learning isn’t something we do alone. It happens in connection with others: in classrooms, on the playground, during field trips, and in everyday moments of care and curiosity. I’m grateful for the many ways our staff, families, and students supported one another and helped build a stronger school community.

It's kind of remarkable what we experienced and accomplished this year. While naming everything would fill our storage quota, we have many amazing memories from 2024-2025. Conferences, dances, concerts, orange shirts, pink shirts, rainbow photos, student voice, school council, Halloween, Elder Hal, Just Like You, Ani to Pisi, science fairs, field trips galore, parent volunteers, PE challenges, Ramadan, fun lunches, fun snacks, community walks, assemblies, guest speakers, special presentations, report cards, club days, outdoor school, pancake breakfast, grade six farewell, year end celebrations and amazing learning activities are just a FEW of the many experiences we enjoyed at OHS. Each of those are now wonderful school memories.

As we head into summer, I’ve left our students with a challenge: make more real memories. Not virtual ones. Get outside. Run, bike, explore, dig in the dirt, climb something (safely!), and spend time with friends and family face to face. These are the memories that matter… the ones that stay with us long after summer fades.

Thank you again for your partnership and trust this year. I firmly believe that our ongoing partnership is the key to student success. Enjoy a safe and joyful summer. We look forward to walking together again in the fall and look forward to seeing you on our first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

With gratitude,

Trevor Barkley
