Winter Festive Spirit Days
A huge thank you to our School Wellness Action Team, who led the school in pumping up the festive spirit through theme days, holly-jolly music, and kindness to others. We wore festive sweaters and headwear, dressed up as cheerful winter characters, demonstrated AMAZING hair, and wrapped up the week toasty warm in our pajamas. The gym also turned into a Winter Wonderland with amazing activities and a snazzy light show! It was a fantastic seeing so many smiling and laughing students, even though the weather outside was once again, frightful! Thanks to Mrs. Burch and all the staff who helped organize the students!
Food Drive a Huge Success
Way to go, Olympic Heights! As a community, we collected a whole lot of canned and boxed goods – over 600 kgs/1300 lbs! Did you know that is the same mass as an adult polar bear? We couldn’t even move them on our own – thanks to the Canadian Armed Forces members who came to collect all the goods and load them up on their truck. Thanks to all the staff, students, parents, families, and community members who stepped up to help others during this season of giving. The generosity of the season is strong at OHS! Thank you!
OHS Club Day
Students and staff enjoyed a slight change in their Fridays on Dec. 20 when students engaged in a special “club” activity for about an hour, after starting the morning with carols. Coding, robotics, crafts, and other activities were just a few of the experiences offered by staff. We’re hoping everyone had a chance to experience something new during club time!
Sad Farewell
Friday marked Mrs. Walker’s last day at OHS. After MANY years, our beloved education assistant said goodbye, ready to enjoy retirement travelling and spending time with family. Students serenaded her with a special “carol” on Friday morning, in a heartfelt goodbye. Students, staff, School Council, and even her husband all joined in in expressing our deep gratitude and admiration. From staff, students, and parents alike, we thank her for ALL she had done for OHS over the years and wish her all the best in her retirement.
MyBusStop App Updated with Push Notifications
Southland Transportation has updated the MyBusStop app to include push notifications. When there is a posted delay on a bus route, families can now receive an alert directly to their mobile phone. To receive notifications, families must have the app installed on their phone and have registered on the mybusstop.ca website. You can subscribe to the route using the code provided in your MyCBE account, in the ‘Bus Routes and Stops’ section. You can then allow the app to provide notifications on their route delays.
