Away for the Day

Starting Aug. 29, 2024, CBE students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices (cell phones, smart watches and personal Ipads/tables) during instructional time, unless such use is approved by the teacher for learning activities, for health and medical needs and to support specialized learning needs.

For Gr. K-9, these new rules are similar to the ‘away-for-the-day’ guidelines that many schools have been using in recent years. Students in grades K-9 will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet  - simply left at home.

OHS Playmakers Challenge: Just One Week To Go!

Our OHS Playmakers are making a difference! We’re in the final week of our October fundraising challenge, and there’s still time to make every dollar count toward our new playground.

Whether it’s collecting bottles, selling hot chocolate, tackling extra chores, saving spare change, or asking family and friends to contribute, every effort brings us closer to our goal!

Imagine the impact if every child raised just $20 — we’d raise over $9,000 for OHS Play! Every dollar helps us create a more accessible, inclusive, and fun playground for everyone.

There’s still time to win! Keep fundraising for your chance to win Principal for the Afternoon or help your class earn a pizza party for being the top fundraising class!

How to Donate

Ready to make a difference? Visit the link below for challenge details and to make your online donation:

Please do not send money to school. All donations should be made online using the link above. Thank you!

Remember to track individual fundraising progress using the attached OHS Playmaker Challenge_Student Tracker.pdf.

Thank you for helping us bring our OHS Play playground vision to life. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!

 Calgary Veteran’s Food Donation Collection

The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary is dedicated to supporting veterans and their families by providing essential food and resources. Donations are crucial as they allow the food bank to purchase perishable food items and hygiene products to meet the needs of veterans facing food insecurity. The bank aims to alleviate hunger and ensure that veterans and first responders have access to nutritious meals and essential household items, helping them overcome challenges related to their service and transition back to civilian life.

We have some Calgary Veteran’s Food Bank boxes located in our school’s lobby if you are able to help this important and impactful cause. We will be accepting donations (non perishable food and hygiene items) until Friday, November 6
