Halloween Dance

We would like to say a HUGE Thank You to our Parent Council and the volunteers who organized such a fabulous Halloween celebration for our OHS families. It was truly an amazing evening with lots of dance moves, photos, laughter and fun had by all. Thank you to all families who came out to make this event a spooktacular evening.

Calgary Veteran’s Food Donation Collection

The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary is dedicated to supporting veterans and their families by providing essential food and resources. Donations are crucial as they allow the food bank to purchase perishable food items and hygiene products to meet the needs of veterans facing food insecurity. The bank aims to alleviate hunger and ensure that veterans and first responders have access to nutritious means and essential household items, helping them overcome challenges related to their service and transition back to civilian life.

We have some Calgary Veteran’s Food Bank boxes located in our school’s lobby if you are able to help this important and impactful cause. We will be accepting non perishable donations until Friday, November 6.

Our OHS Playmakers showed up and made a difference!

A huge THANK YOU to every student, family member and supporter who got behind our October fundraising challenge. From bottle collecting and hot chocolate stands to extra chores, spare change and generous donations, every effort added up to something BIG!

More than just raising money, this challenge has been about coming together as a school community, showing initiative, supporting one another and bringing our vision of a more accessible, inclusive and fun playground to life.

We hope every Playmaker feels proud of what they've accomplished. Whether you raised $5, $20 or more, your contribution matters, and every dollar brings us one step closer to making OHS Play a reality!

A Few Final Reminders!

  • Student Tracker Sheets: Please return completed tracker sheets to your child's classroom teacher by Friday, November 6.
  • Fundraising Donations: Please ensure all funds raised are submitted to Parks Foundation Calgary by Friday, November 6. Details on how to submit donations can be found online at our OHS Playmakers Challenge link: https://ohsplay.ca/ohs-playmakers-challenge-ready-set-play/
  • Please do not send cash to school. All donations should be submitted online through the link above.

Employer Matching Opportunities

We've also received a few questions about employer matching opportunities through Benevity. We're currently working with the team at Parks Foundation Calgary to add OHS Play to their list of eligible projects, making it easier for employees to direct their employer-matched contributions toward our playground initiative. We'll share more details as soon as they're available!

Thank you for being part of this journey and for showing us what we can achieve when we play together.

Stay tuned for the announcement of our winners!

OHS Playmakers — you made your mark!

Away for the Day

Starting Aug. 29, 2024, CBE students will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices (cell phones, smart watches and personal Ipads/tables)during instructional time, unless such use is approved by the teacher for learning activities, for health and medical needs and to support specialized learning needs.

For Gr. K-9, these rules are similar to the ‘away-for-the-day’ guidelines that many schools have been using in recent years. Students in grades K-9 will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices during the school day. Student devices brought to school must be out of sight and either powered off or set to silent. They should be left in backpacks, lockers or areas designated by teachers or better yet  - simply left at home.
