SOGO Adventure Running in PE
We are excited to welcome SOGO Adventure Running to Olympic Heights! A big thank you to our Parent Council for supporting and funding this opportunity for our students.
SOGO will be running from October 13th–15th and will take place outdoors around the school grounds. Students will be learning introductory orienteering skills, including how to read and orient an orienteering map, recognize map symbols and terrain, use the Sport Ident timing system, and pace themselves while running.
Please send your child prepared to be outside. SOGO runs in rain, snow, or shine, and both students and adults should be dressed for outdoor physical activity. Running shoes are recommended (rather than rain boots), along with layers appropriate for the weather. Toques, gloves, and warm layers are encouraged on colder days.
Jacket Racket
Olympic Heights School is proud to be one of the 27 schools and businesses who have signed up to participate in Jacket Racket 2026! Last year, Jacket Racket was able to fill requests for winter wear for just over 1800+ students.
Our school office is accepting Jacket Racket donations from October 5 to November 6. Gently used items we will be collecting are: winter jackets, snowpants, winter boots, hats and mitts. We kindly ask that donated items be washed and in good condition.
If you are able to donate to Jacket Racket, and to those who have donated already, Thank You!

OHS Playmakers Challenge: Ready, Set, Play!
This October, OHS students have the exciting opportunity to become OHS Playmakers and help bring our new playground one step closer to reality!
From October 1–31, we’re inviting families to have fun, get creative and find a fundraising approach that works for them. Whether your student collects bottles, takes on extra chores, saves spare change, creates something to sell, or simply asks family and friends to support their efforts, every contribution matters.
The goal isn’t just to raise funds — it’s to help our students feel a sense of ownership and pride in building a playground that will be more accessible, inclusive and fun for everyone. And there’s some extra fun along the way, with prizes for our top individual fundraiser (Principal for the afternoon!), and a pizza party for the top fundraising class!
Thank you for helping your children take part in this special opportunity and for being part of the OHS community as we work together to make OHS Play a reality.
For more information, including details on how to participate and make an online donation, visit: https://ohsplay.ca/ohs-playmakers-challenge-ready-set-play/
Please track individual student fundraising progress using the Student Tracker sheet attached.

Thanksgiving Holiday
It is Thanksgiving Holiday long weekend! Whether you are traveling, staying home, visiting with friends and family, we hope that all of our OHS families find the time to slow down, relax and enjoy this time together.
Winter Arrives This Weekend!! Dress For The Weather!
It is time to get out the winter jackets, mitts, togues (hats), and boots! Winter weather will be arriving this weekend and we ask that students come to school dressed for the weather. Students will be going outside for recesses and fresh air breaks, so please have them dressed appropriately for the cold weather.
