Great Turnout to Learning Conferences
It’s always a pleasure to see our OHS families come out for learning conferences! Thanks to everyone who participated, whether in-person or online. Conferences are an important part of our reporting and communication process, and a great way to highlight strengths and set goals before the January report cards. Special thanks to our School Council and Parents Association for providing a wonderful dinner and snacks for the teachers. Gratitude!
CBC Music Class Challenge Videos
Students in Kindergarten to Grades 6 have worked hard in music class to create music videos for the CBC Music Class Challenge once again! This year, we recorded two videos, one with the Kindergarten to Grade 3 students, and one with the Grade 4 to Grade 6 students. It was such an exciting project for all of us to learn, rehearse and film our versions of these two great Canadian songs, both with powerful messages.
Our videos are now uploaded to the official CBC Music Class Challenge YouTube Channel! You can check out the videos through these links:
- “B R A V E” by the Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjdpITeF6YM
- “Turning the Tide” by the Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6 students: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob1P8iwAQ-E
Wonderful job everyone! Mrs. Tran
Grade 2 Design and Creation Challenge
The Grade 2's recently completed a building challenge for the Matter unit in the new Science curriculum. The students have been learning about materials and their various properties, and were tasked with choosing one design to build using materials from home. Their choices were;
- A tower measuring at least 30cm tall
- A vase that could hold 4 flowers
- A napkin holder that could hold 20 napkins
- A stool that could support their weight
Students were very creative in their designs and it was fun to see their problem solving skills develop while completing this project!
Winter Concert – Save the Date
Save the date for our annual OHS winter/Christmas concert! Our Grades 4-6 students are once again hosting this wonderful event. On Thursday, December 14, we will be having an dress rehearsal in the afternoon and a live performance in the evening - families are welcome at both. We will also be collecting food for the Veteran’s Food Bank, beginning on Dec. 11, so please try to remember to bring along a donation.
Team Spirit Day @ OHS
Join us on Thursday, Nov. 30 where we celebrate team spirit! Teams can be student sport teams, clubs like Guides or Scouts, OHS school wear (because we are Team OHS!), or even your favourite professional team. Represent your squad on this special spirit day!
School Apparel – Virtual Store with Fresh Brand Co.
