Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 23!
We are excited to be participating in our annual Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 23! With just two weeks to go, our fundraising page is now live. Families will receive additional information and the donation link by email and through School Messenger in the coming days. Kindergarten students are encouraged to participate with their buddy classes by walking, jogging, or running together earlier in the day during their PE time. Thank you for supporting this meaningful event as we celebrate Terry's legacy of courage, perseverance, and hope while raising funds for cancer research. We look forward to another successful Terry Fox Run at Olympic Heights!
Open House – September 24
We are excited to welcome families to our Open House on Thursday, September 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Throughout the evening, parents and guardians will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet staff, learn about classroom routines and expectations, and explore curriculum highlights for the year ahead. Teachers will provide a brief 10-minute classroom presentation at 4:45 p.m., 5:15 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. (the same presentation will be repeated each time) covering classroom routines, communication methods, volunteer and field trip opportunities, and other important information. Announcements will be made two minutes prior to each presentation. Between presentations, families are welcome to tour the school, visit the gym/plaza area, connect with staff, and learn more about the volunteer process! We look forward to seeing you and partnering together for a successful school year!
OHS Ribbons for ReconciliACTION
As part of our commitment to learning, reflection, and reconciliation, Olympic Heights School students will be participating in our OHS Ribbons for ReconciliACTION project in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day). Working in pairs, students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will decorate orange ribbons and create a short promise that reflects kindness, inclusion, respect, and ensuring that everyone feels safe and welcome. These ribbons will serve as a visual reminder that Every Child Matters and that each of us has a role to play in making our school, community, and country a fair and caring place for all. The ribbons are currently on display on the fence at the front of the school as a symbol of our collective commitment to reconciliation and belonging. Our school will be recogizing Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 29th.
